I have been awarded a BAEF Research Fellowship, which will allow me to spend the next year in the team of Professor Yury Dvorkin at Johns Hopkins University. Johns Hopkins is frequently ranked among the top universities in the world!
During this fellowship, I’ll be diving into decision-focused learning and exploring how it can enhance demand response from HVAC systems. This approach goes beyond just making accurate predictions—it’s about training models that actually help optimize real-world decisions, like making our heating and cooling smarter and more efficient. I’m particularly excited to see how these methods can make a tangible impact on energy flexibility and grid services.
And of course, I’m looking forward to experiencing life in the US—where the HVAC units are mighty, the coffee cups are supersized, and the research opportunities (and bagels) are truly world-class!
I can’t wait to get started, collaborate with top experts, and contribute to smarter, more sustainable energy systems—one thermostat at a time.
